A White Story

Vogue Italia April 2010
Photographer: Paolo Roversi
Model: Guinevere van Seenus, Sasha Pivovarova

Funny how the semblance of white invokes the auto-response, cold. Yet these photos are anything but.

DREAMCATCHER

These are four garments that I sewed in high school as part of a TSA (technology student association) fashion design competition. I owe Wesley and Erica big time for helping me by modeling them and Cass for taking the time out of her busy schedule for a quick photo shoot for my scholarship portfolio!

A chapter of my life is coming to a close. I'm leaving Tech behind. I'm going alum in Alpha Gam. I'm basically abandoning every safety net that I've ever established.

I'm going to SCAD Atlanta to become a fashion designer.
I've caught ahold of my dreams and I'm never letting go.

mix her up GOOD.

initiation dress, francesca's collections

laurence kazar gown, goodwill, $5!

little boy blazer, salvation army
striped button-up, american apparel
banana republic skirt, salvation army
brown bow pumps, salvation army

Chinatown nibblings, Sunday dinners at the Alpha Gam house, lake outings and thrift store throwdowns: today's college girls dig it big. My dear boyfriend has scored a regular article in the campus newspaper as a food critic, and partnered with Scoutmob's generous lessons on the Atlanta culinary scene, I promise a new wealth of delicious photos. Fashion rules are meant to be broken, white garments bought for the sake of both pre- and post-Labor Day dressing. A $5 beaded Goodwill gown, straight from the pages of Fitzgerald balls, inspires yours truly to take a silly hike around campus's autumn streets. Between miss Coleen and I, we're intent on erasing the days of somber Northface woolies and Patagonia jackets from this dear, drab city. Please, may every day be costumed.

Roulette Returns!

Tonight's the night...the follow-up to that first, faithful Roulette meeting of strangers, the sequel to the beginning, but by no means the end! Come out with us to Whiskey Park in Midtown Atlanta's W Hotel for a night of high class, stunning faces, and Coleen's favorite pear-tinis (duh).

YOUR PERSONAL INVITATION:
facebook page

Summer's wrapping up, session classes are winding down, I'm waking up later than ever and 169% fed up with these cray-cray summer freshmen. It's about time we get together for a helluva night before fall semester comes around and gobbles us up. So here is my proposal: this Saturday, July 27th of the fabulous year 2010, I am personally inviting all of you to ROULETTE.

I still remember the first time I met the GaCity gang at ROULETTE. I was green, I wore eau de Underage Girl around the ears, and I probably asked Coleen 824960280 times that night if my outfit looked okay. I remember exactly what I ended up wearing (draped black tunic, thrifted skirt, vintage belt, side braid a la Alexander Wang S/S 2010), how goddessy Paris and Ashley looked, how purdy miss Allie reassured me short girls had it best, how fantastically voluminous Landon's knitted scarf was...everything. That night at the W Hotel was my first introduction to the fabulous life of the Atlanta elite. I remember changing my profile picture to an Oh Snap! original ASAP, just so the magic of that night would last (my AP Lit teacher would be proud to know that I look back and recognize this as FORESHADOWING).

I'm CHEEZIN', I know. But I'm serious. After ROULETTE, my life changed. I didn't realize it then, but that night turned my whole world flippity-floppity.

Now, full circle, I invite all of you to experience ROULETTE this Saturday. Whether you've been around the block a few times or haven't yet ventured out in our sparkling city, please come join White Light Syndrome, Paul Lynch, Oh Snap Kid, and hundreds other of Atlanta's finest at Whiskey Park in the W Hotel. I have to thank Dell for giving me this idea, and Ryan for letting me run around and get into all sorts of hijinks under his wing.

THANK YOU PARTY PEOPLE. I'LL SEE YOU TONIGHT! MEOW.
-Cassie "Mama C-ta" Xie

Photographs will be provided by yours truly. Look how excited I am to be taking your photo!

And the partner-in-crime will be setting the dress standards, as always.

See you all there tonight!

portland faeries.

Named one of Angelino Magazine's Top 10 Designers to Watch along with Brian Lichtenberg (think Lady G caution tape) and Marlova, this Oregon-based designer delivers cocktail dresses covered with froufrou, flounces, and flourishes. Claire La Faye's designs have been a constant presence on many a red carpet, and have been worn by much of Hollywood, from Dita Von Teese and Courtney Love to Christina Aguilera.

With the precise attention to detail and combination of numerous vintage pieces, the prices can be a bit out there for most, but it's definitely worth a look. Check out the offerings from the claire la faye etsy shop, as well as her main website.

And can I just add, I would do awful things and act far, far outside my typical character to get my hands on this.
